Patriot Claim Tracker Privacy Policy

Patriot Claim Tracker is an independent Chrome extension that helps veterans organize information they are already authorized to view on VA.gov. The extension can process sensitive veteran, benefits, health, payment, claim, document, and messaging information. This policy describes what the extension handles, why it handles it, and where that information is stored.

Local-first design: Patriot Claim Tracker does not require a SALT19 account and does not upload captured VA.gov information to SALT19 servers. Processing and storage are performed locally in the user's Chrome browser.

Information the extension may handle

Depending on which VA.gov pages the user visits, Patriot Claim Tracker may process:

Identity and profile information, such as name, email address, phone number, mailing address, and limited identifiers displayed by VA.gov.
VA claim and appeal information, including claim type, status, dates, evidence signals, decision information, and related records.
Benefits and disability information, including disability ratings, service-connected conditions, compensation-related information, and benefit eligibility signals.
Health-related information, including appointment, prescription, medication, provider, clinic, and other health signals that appear on supported VA.gov pages or responses.
Payment and financial information, including payment history and direct-deposit or banking-related data that may appear in VA.gov responses.
Messages and communications, including secure-messaging folders, subjects, sender/recipient information, message metadata, and other message data exposed by supported VA.gov pages or responses.
Documents and forms, including decision letters, evidence links, document metadata, VA forms, and related file references.
Website content and URLs from supported VA.gov pages used to build the local dashboard.

How information is collected

The extension runs only on https://www.va.gov/*. A local content script reads visible page information and organizes it into the dashboard. A bundled local page-observer script can also observe VA.gov network responses already made by the VA.gov page so the dashboard can organize information that is not always present in visible page text.

The observer is limited to VA-controlled domains. It excludes authorization, cookie, set-cookie, and CSRF-token headers from captured response metadata. Patriot Claim Tracker does not request or collect the user's VA.gov password.

How information is used

Captured information is used only to provide the extension's veteran-information organization features, including claim summaries, benefits and disability summaries, messages, documents, health and payment signals, forms/resources, local reports, and redacted exports.

Local storage and retention

Patriot Claim Tracker stores captured information locally using Chrome extension storage. This may include recent VA.gov response data needed to construct the dashboard. Information remains on the user's device until it is replaced by newer captured data, cleared through browser/extension storage controls, or removed when the extension is uninstalled.

Sensitive-device warning: because the extension can locally store sensitive veteran information, users should not use it on shared or untrusted devices and should secure their Chrome profile and operating-system account.

Exports and redaction

The extension can create local reports and exports. Export functions attempt to redact sensitive identifiers such as account numbers, routing numbers, Social Security numbers, claim/file identifiers, tokens, and similar values. Users should still review any exported file before sharing it because automated redaction cannot guarantee that every sensitive value will be removed.

Network requests and third parties

Patriot Claim Tracker does not send captured VA.gov information to SALT19 servers, advertising networks, data brokers, analytics services, or AI services. The extension observes data exchanged between the user's browser and VA.gov as part of the user's own authenticated VA.gov session. Links in the Resources and Forms sections may open official VA.gov or other government veteran-resource pages when the user chooses them.

Data sale, advertising, and unrelated use

Patriot Claim Tracker does not sell user data. It does not use VA.gov information for personalized advertising, retargeting, creditworthiness, lending decisions, insurance decisions, employment screening, or purposes unrelated to its disclosed veteran-information organization features.

Human access and sharing

SALT19 personnel do not receive or review the user's locally captured VA.gov information through Patriot Claim Tracker because the extension does not upload that information to SALT19 servers. The extension does not provide captured VA.gov information to data brokers or advertising networks.

Security

The extension is packaged with its executable code and does not execute remotely hosted JavaScript. It limits its page operation to VA.gov and stores working data within the user's Chrome extension storage. The injected network observer sanitizes authentication-related response headers before locally recording response metadata.

User control

Users control whether the extension is installed and which VA.gov pages they visit while it is enabled. Users may clear Chrome extension storage, remove locally exported files, or uninstall the extension to remove extension-managed local data. Users can also disable the extension's site access through Chrome's extension settings.

Chrome Web Store Limited Use

Patriot Claim Tracker's use of user data is limited to providing or improving its single disclosed purpose: organizing the user's own VA.gov information locally for easier review. User data is not sold, is not used or transferred for personalized advertising, is not used or transferred to determine creditworthiness or for lending purposes, and is not transferred for unrelated purposes.

Changes to this policy

If the extension's data practices materially change, this policy and applicable Chrome Web Store disclosures will be updated.
